Spurs’ most likely January transfer window signing and it’s not good news for Kieran Trippier

The transfer deadline is edging ever closer and Spurs still haven’t added anyone to their squad this month.

Supporters had plenty to say about the fact the club didn’t strengthen in the summer and it appears to be heading that way once again with the deadline on Thursday evening.

Spurs have been linked with a number of players so far this month but, at present, no deals are in sight.

Mousa Dembele’s move to China has left a gap in midfield, while the Lilywhites could also do with bringing in a frontman to cover for the loss of Harry Kane until March.

Fernando Llorente has filled in over the past three games but has struggled, while Heung-Min Son has only just returned from the Asian Cup following South Korea’s shock exit in the quarter-finals.

Even though Spurs fans may want a new midfielder or striker to arrive in the coming days, the bookies actually believe it could be a right-back that actually signs on the dotted line before the month is out.

In fact, the odds are shorter for him to join Spurs as he is 6/4 to stay with the Championship club.

RB Leipzig are 6/1 to sign the 19-year-old, with Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool priced at 9/1, 22/1 and 25/1 respectively.

Spurs are certainly well stocked at right-back at present with Kieran Trippier, Serge Aurier and Kyle Walker-Peters all competing for a spot in the starting XI.

However, Trippier, who missed a penalty in Sunday’s FA Cup defeat against Crystal Palace, has been unable to replicate his good form over the past few years and his place in the team is now under serious threat.
