Liverpool midfielder Pedro Chirivella’s loan spell with Extremadura could be cut short due to a dispute with Spanish football authorities, as reported on the Evening Standard.
The Spaniard made the loan move on the last day of the January transfer window, in a deal that was scheduled to last until the end of the season.
However, he could find himself back in Merseyside soon as the Royal Spanish Football Federation have spotted a problem with his registration at the Segunda Division club.
The 21-year-old is yet to play a match for the club since making the loan move and reports in Spain are suggesting that they will need to appeal to try and earn him clearance to play.
Liverpool are not worried about getting into any trouble regarding the move.
Because they made sure that they followed the protocol of registering his loan through FIFA and the FA.
The Reds are also hopeful that the issue can be resolved by Extremadura, who linger in 19th place in the league table.
