Report: Tottenham interested in signing £120k-a-week Liverpool star for free

Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Daniel Sturridge at the end of his Liverpool contract this summer, according to the Daily Mirror (February 12, page 56).

Sturridge is said to be interesting several clubs at home and abroad as his deal runs down.

But the newspaper adds he could be tempted to remain in the Premier League with Tottenham.

It is claimed the 29-year-old is wanted by Spurs as back-up to Harry Kane, with Fernando Llorente set to leave at the end of this season.

Sturridge has found it difficult to dislodge Liverpool’s regular front three of Sadio Mane, Roberto Frimino and Mohamed Salah these past two campaigns, and ended last term on loan to West Bromwich Albion.

Signing the England international, who the Daily Mirror reports earns £120,000-a-week at Liverpool, would help to boost Tottenham’s number of home-grown players.

Sturridge has scored 77 goals in 213 games at Premier League level.
