His second spell as a player at Manchester United FC has been a controversial one so far.
And if some reports in the Italian media are to be believed, it could soon come to an end.
That’s right, Paul Pogba has hit the football transfer headlines again.
This time the controversial Frenchman has been linked with a return move to Juventus – the club who sold him to the Red Devils for a whopping £89.3m back in 2016 (after buying him from United in the first place!).
The word on the grapevine in Italy today is that the The Old Lady want Pogba back at the club with United prepared to let him go in exchange for Douglas Costa.
However, writing for football website Tuttosport.com, journalist Guido Vaciago says the Bianconeri are reluctant to let the “phenomenal striker” go as he has “not expressed his full potential” for the club.”
Costa is also considered to be a “decisive weapon in the Champions League” by the club heirarchy.
The report says: “Although with varying performances, the player (Costa) has shown he can decide the matches with his stroke of genius, his amazing speed and execution.
“United are convinced that with those characteristics, he would be lethal even in the Premier League, where his would find even wider spaces for his devastating counter-attacks.
However, the report goes on to say that ideally, Juve would like to attain Pogba’s services without selling Costa at all.
Vaciago values Pogba at around 50m euros.
And he says that as long as the Frenchman’s for doesn’t dip between now and the end of the season, the Italian club would then be willing to consider a swap deal for both strikers.
In any case, any such dead (should one ever materialise) would unlikely be made during the January transfer window with both clubs eyeing the summer for the potential transfer.
