Man United star admits he ‘hasn’t lost sleep’ over recent criticism

Not even a week into his new four year Manchester United deal, Phil Jones came under immense scrutiny from fan and critics alike.

Manchester United signed the England centre back from Blackburn in 2011 and have him tied down till 2023 with an option to further his stay by 12 months.

Jones, Whose injury and form issues have severely hampered his United career seems to have shaken off the criticism.

Speaking to reporters at the end of the Fulham game, Jones said ” “I don’t lose sleep about what people say about me. It’s football,I’m going to get criticism in the future, I’ve had criticism in the past.

“Honestly, I genuinely don’t care. I have a wonderful family and wonderful friends. I play football for Man United, I’ve been given an extra contract and I’m grateful for that.”

Jose Mourinho was pretty vocal and adamant during his time at United about acquiring a new centre half and even under OGS, The Red Devils continue to be linked with a plethora of world-class centre-halves but Jones reiterates that any speculation does not faze him.

“Since I’ve come to this club we’ve signed players left, right and centre: forwards, defenders, goalkeepers,” he said. “We’re Man United, of course we’re going to be interested in the best players in the world, I’d be pretty amazed if we weren’t.”
