Laporte and Lacazette miss out as Everton pair included in latest France squad

France’s squad for the country’s upcoming European Championship qualifiers has this afternoon been announced.

France’s road ahead

Didier Deschamps’ Les Bleus are set to get their Euro 2020 qualification campaign under way over the coming fortnight.

The world champions will take their first step towards a clean sweep of international titles next Friday, when they travel to Moldova for their Group H opener.

France will then welcome Iceland to the Stade de France 3 days later, ahead of a 3-month break from international football.

Laporte misses out again

As such, the 2-time world champs have this afternoon announced their latest squad for the pair of fixtures.

From the Premier League, the likes of Paul Pogba, Hugo Lloris, N’Golo Kante, Anthony Martial and Moussa Sissoko are all included.

In addition, somewhat surprisingly, Everton stopper Kurt Zouma is also named by Didier Deschamps.

And Zouma’s inclusion means that there is once again no room for Aymeric Laporte of Manchester City.

Despite being widely-regarded as one of the finest stoppers in England, Laporte is yet to make his senior bow for France.

There is also no place for Arsenal hitman Alexandre Lacazette. Chelsea’s Olivier Giroud, on the other hand, has been included:
