Everton are reportedly keen on Rennes winger Ismaila Sarr.
Everton may not make any signings before Thursday’s transfer deadline, but Marcel Brands appears to have an exciting target in his sights for the future.
The Toffees look set to take a back seat this month given their summer spending spree, even though a new rumour has emerged in France over the last 24 hours.
WIW Sport in France report that Everton want Rennes winger Ismaila Sarr, and the Toffees were even planning to scout him against Paris Saint-Germain on Sunday.
Sarr and his side lost 4-1 at the Parc des Princes, but Sarr did play 78 minutes before being substituted failing to add to his impressive record of nine goals and six assists this season.
Sarr may not be a target for Everton before this week’s deadline, but may be more geared towards the summer window, and he would be a hugely exciting signing if Brands can get him in.
The 20-year-old could even be Everton’s answer to Liverpool’s Sadio Mane, given that Sarr was touted as the next Mane when he was emerging with Metz, Mane’s former club.
The pair are now Senegal international teammates, and Sarr’s blistering pace, eye for goal and his desire to cut in from the left onto his right foot means it’s not hard to see why the comparisons have been made.
Sarr won’t be cheap if Everton want him, but he would add another threat to the Everton flanks alongside Bernard and Ademola Lookman, whilst potentially giving Liverpool something to fear, just as Everton do when facing Mane.
Sarr’s best years are ahead of him at just 20, and if Everton can beat off strong competition for his signature, he could be one of Brands’ most exciting additions at Goodison Park.
