Everton make the trip to Huddersfield Town in the Premier League on Tuesday evening, but they will be without a trio of players for the match, according to their official website.
After the Toffees were beaten by Millwall in the FA Cup on Saturday, the Goodison Park outfit will be looking to pick up a confidence boosting victory when they take on the struggling Terriers.
It might not be the best time for Everton to be taking on Huddersfield however.
Not only are the Merseyside club in indifferent form themselves, but their opponents will be playing under their new manager for the first time, which often results in an elevation in performance.
With the pressure rising on Toffees boss Marco Silva, he could have done being without three defensive players for the trip to the John Smith’s Stadium.
After a nightmare result against Millwall, the Portuguese coach will be desperate for Everton to land the points in Yorkshire, but if they are to get them they will have to do so without Yerry Mina, Phil Jagielka and Morgan Schneiderlin, who all miss the contest through injury.
The loss of the Colombia international could be particularly significant, as the Toffees’ weakness in defending set pieces was brutally exposed by the Championship side at the weekend, and that is very much one of Huddersfield’s strengths, so they will need to come up with a way to combat that without one of their best aerial threats.
Everton have already failed to beat the Terriers at Goodison Park this term, and defeat in Yorkshire could have serious ramifications to many on Merseyside.
A lot of money has been spent assembling this Toffees squad, and if they were to lose this match they would fall further away from their aims at the beginning of the campaign, which in turn would pile the pressure on those responsible.
