Dortmund’s Official Starting Eleven vs Tottenham

SANCHO ON THE RISE

As Tottenham prepare for tonight’s encounter all eyes will be on one English player in particular, though it’s ironic that Jadon Sancho will be turning out for the German league leaders.

In Europe’s top five leagues, only Lionel Messi and Eden Hazard have more assists than the Englishman this season, but what makes him so special?

RECENT HISTORY

These two sides played their first competitive match against each other in the Europa League in March 2016, with Dortmund winning 3-0 thanks to a goal from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and a second-half double from Marco Reus.

Dortmund then won at White Hart Lane in the return leg but Spurs got the better of the Bundesliga side in the group stages of the Champions League last season.

Spurs won 3-1 at Wembley and then came from behind to win 2-1 in the reverse fixture to qualify as group winners ahead of Dortmund and Real Madrid.
