Sunday’s Merseyside Derby will be the 284th time Everton go head-to-head with Liverpool, and fans are hoping that it will see the players show as much as passion as Tim Cahill always displayed.

Fans have been sharing their thoughts on the tie, and the Toffees legend’s impact in the Derby, after the club shared a post harking back to the good old days when he found a route under Pepe Reina to fire us to victory.

Those were the days, when the players were up for it from the first whistle to the last, and the current crop at Goodison Park often fail to show as much commitment to the cause.

That might be why we are without a win against the Reds since 2010, despite facing them on 18 occasions since – at least we’ve been able to claim a point nine times.

We could have made it a slightly more appealing balance earlier this term had Jordan Pickford not failed to deal with the looping ball that ultimately led to Divock Origi’s late, heartbreaking winner but we must go again at the weekend.
