Tottenham have reportedly made a huge £45million bid for Roma winger Cengiz Under as Mauricio Pochettino looks to bolster his attacking options in January.
The 21-year-old has been a bright spot in a stuttering season for last year’s Champions League semi-finalists and has four goals in 17 games.
According to Corriere dello Sport, Roma have already rejected a £32m offer from Spurs and that the Serie A side would Under’s former club Istanbul Basaksehir 20 per cent of any transfer fee.
The Italian publication add that Arsenal and Chelsea have reportedly scouted the winger while Bayern Munich are considering him as a replacement for the outgoing Arjen Robben.
Pochettino did not make a single signing last summer and also had to contend with the majority of his squad playing in the latter stages of the World Cup.
With a move to a new stadium on the horizon and Champions League as imperative a demand as ever, the Spurs boss could bolster his options in January.
As well as being a Roma regular since arriving from Basaksehir in the summer of 2017, Under has 10 caps for Turkey and has scored four times.
Roma have already sealed their place in the last-16 of the Champions League while Tottenham head to Barcelona in their last match needing to match Inter Milan’s result against PSV Eindhoven in order to advance.
In all likelihood, it will mean they need to win at the Nou Camp. PSV have lost all five of their group games so far.
Before next Tuesday’s match in Spain, Tottenham are away to Leicester in Saturday’s late Premier League match. Roma, meanwhile, are seventh in Serie A.
